What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state in which we enter into many times a day. Daydreaming, being engrossed in a book, driving or being wrapped up in our own thoughts are everyday examples of the hypnotic state. It is simply a state of awareness where our concentration is internally focused.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that uses hypnosis as a tool to quickly and effectively ease or eradicate an issue. We use hypnosis by addressing your subconscious mind and instilling positive beneficial suggestions to enable you to change negative behaviours and thoughts.
Who can be hypnotised?
Everyone can be hypnotised as long as they want to be. However, different people may experience different levels of hypnosis.
Am I asleep when under hypnosis?
No, you are not a sleep. You know what is happening at all times and are in full control, you are just comfortably relaxed whilst sitting in an armchair. Even if you consciously don’t hear all the positive suggesstions being instilled, your subconscious is still listening and either way the hypnotherapy will still be effective.
Would I say things that I do not want to say?
No. The unconscious mind will only have access to the information, which is necessary for the problem to be solved and only to the extent that you can handle. Your unconscious mind will always protect you. You have full control over the situation at all times and can continuously evaluate whether you want to answer any questions we ask you.
A hypnotherapist cannot make you say or do anything that is outside of your values or beliefs.
Can I get ‘stuck’ in hypnosis?
No. It is easy for a hypnotherapist to tell the difference between sleep and trance. You cannot get ‘stuck’ in hypnosis, even if one of our hypnotherapists was to leave the room, you would come around again in your own time. Hypnosis is a natural state to be in.
Do I lie down or sit?
You can sit comfortably in an armchair or lie down slightly upright, whatever is most comfortable for you.
Will I remember anything afterwards?
Sometimes Yes, in most cases you remember everything. Some people choose to relax so much that their conscious mind takes a step back allowing the subconscious to come forward. Its this part of the brain that remembers everything and that is the most important thing.
How long is a session?
A session is usually 1 hour depending on the type of session. Virtual Gastric Band and Weight Management sessions are usually longer. Allow up to 1 1/2 hours for this type of appointment.
Are the effects lasting?
Yes, typically a deep inner transformation occurs. You could say that the weed is pulled up by the roots. You create a new understanding on which to base your behaviour. A child who has learned to walk does not start to crawl again. Weight management clients may require ‘top up’ sessions every 3-6 months or to keep motivation high, particularly if they have a long term frame to achieve their desired goal. We are commited to your success on a long term basis, rather than as a quick fix.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies. Each person and each issue is individual. Most habits and mindsets have developed over many years and for this reason I recommend a series of 4 sessions including a FREE Initial Consultation to create long lasting change.
